David is also interning part time at TLC (previously KEYS Youth Services). During his undergrad studies in youth ministry David saw the need that youth have to be understood and to be helped through some of the many hard situations that so many youth face these days. Also he realized that in order to work effectively with youth the family would have to be involved in order that the next generation might begin on as firm a footing as possible. •Pamela Henderson - Pamela Henderson is completing her Master’s of Arts Degree in Counseling and Guidance with an emphasis in Mental Health. Currently, she is matriculating at Webster University, Kansas City, Missouri. Pamela has been in our office since March 2006 and she will continue her internship through July 2006. She served as a supervisor at Rockhill Manor, a 175-bed facility, which provides housing; for adults who are severely and persistently mentally ill. In addition, she also provided over seven years of counseling, case management, and wrap-around services for dually diagnosed clients at Swope Parkway Health Center in Kansas City, Missouri. •Alex Lopez - Alex Lopez is completing his Master’s of Science in Marriage and Family Therapy with Friends University. Alex thoughts on being at this internship site is the following: “It is my thought and hope that if the residents have a great experience with therapy that over time they will value therapy and see that it has a place in their lives now and when the need be in the future. My hope is that residents would learn that therapy is not a quick fix and that it takes dedication on their and the therapist part. I realize that trust is a very big issue in many of their lives. I hope to offer the residents my empathy and be a person that will listen. I hope to learn much from the residents and everyone involved with JDC. I fee lucky to be a part of this community.” Alex was born and raised in Kansas City, MO. He has also lived in three major cities Chicago, Los Angeles and NYC. He is glad to be back home. •Sara Spiegelhalter - My name is Sara Spiegelhalter. I am currently working towards my Bachelors in Psychology at Park University.
